On Thursday Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius.
The Parties were discussing present situation in Ukraine during this meeting.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that now the priority issue concerns restoring the vertical of power in Ukraine. He called the present day “a historic day for the country,” claiming that today a new government was approved, and a coalition of deputies’ factions and groups “European Choice” was formed.
The Chairman of the Parliament stressed that adoption of the Government has become a significant step towards stabilization of power and situation in the society.
Oleksandr Turchynov wants the Cabinet of Ministers to start working in the shortest possible time, having determined restoration of economy, banking sector and regaining of trust in authority as the main tasks of the newly established Government.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada claimed also that “it is necessary to renew steps on the way to European integration that were unreasonably revoked.” He noted that in this situation support of the European Union is extremely important for us. Oleksandr Turchynov believes that the first serious decision on the part of the EU member states could be cancellation of visa regime for the citizens of Ukraine. “This would be a serious signal that Ukraine is waited for and that it will receive help,” he said.
Linas Linkevicius congratulated the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada on appointment of a new Government and reassured him in the support of Ukraine’s European aspirations on the part of Lithuania. “May you manage it all,” he said.
